Félin Express is a Burkinabè company specialised in solar electric mobility solutions adapted to African realities. Founded in late 2023 in Ouagadougou, the company offers professionals and businesses an integrated package combining electric scooter rental and sales, technical maintenance, insurance and solar-powered charging infrastructure. This model significantly reduces transport costs while improving the reliability and sustainability of urban mobility.

In less than a year of operation, Félin Express has already covered more than 180,000 kilometres with its fleet of electric scooters, installed several dozen solar systems and contributed to avoiding more than ten tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The company is thus part of an energy transition dynamic, offering a clean and economical alternative to traditional motorised transport solutions.

The Entrepreneurs

Abraham Balima is an experienced manager who has led teams and industrial units for the international group Newrest in Africa and Latin America. Drawing on this operational and managerial experience, he co-founded Félin Express in 2023 with the ambition of developing a reliable, accessible electric mobility solution tailored to the needs of professionals in Burkina Faso.

Karim Ouedraogo is a doctor of electronics and an engineer specialising in embedded systems. He has nearly twenty years of experience leading highly complex technology projects in France, notably in the automotive, railway and nuclear sectors. Within Félin Express, he oversees the energy architecture, equipment selection and technical robustness of both the scooters and the solar charging stations.

The Partnership with Néré Capital

Under the CATAL1.5°T programme, I&P and Néré Capital are supporting Félin Express in the deployment and structuring of its solar electric mobility model. This partnership aims in particular to strengthen the company’s operational capacity through the acquisition of new electric scooters and the development of solar-powered charging stations.

The support also includes strengthening the team through the recruitment of key profiles, the development of a digital platform enabling real-time monitoring and optimised fleet management, as well as specialised technical assistance to improve the company’s accounting, financial and organisational structuring.

Expected Key Impacts

The development of Félin Express helps accelerate the transition towards cleaner urban mobility in Burkina Faso. The progressive adoption of solar-powered electric scooters significantly reduces the CO₂ emissions associated with professional travel, with an estimated annual reduction potential of more than 250 tonnes of CO₂.

Beyond the environmental impact, this solution also helps improve air quality and reduce noise pollution in urban areas. The project further promotes the creation of skilled jobs in technical and operational fields, while strengthening users’ energy autonomy through the integration of solar charging stations. Finally, the development of digital fleet management tools optimises operational performance and vehicle maintenance.
